Baby Blacktip Reef Shark on Koh Adang
Usually we have lunch on a beach somewhere in the marine park, and recently we’ve had some interesting company!
One of our favourite spots, a quiet and usually empty beach on Koh Adang now also appears to be home to a young black tip reef shark. We’ve seen the shark, the last 4 times we’ve been there for lunch. Measuring less than 50cm for nose to tail, the baby shark has been swimming around in the sandy shallows allowing us watch it from the beach while we eat lunch or snorkeling after.
We do occasionally see sharks on dives or whilst snorkeling, but not often. The reef sharks especially are very shy, often only providing a fleeting glimpse as the disappear into the distance so we’re very pleased that this youngster doesn’t seem to mind sharing his home with us!
